APPLICATION PROCESSING

  • The process begins as soon as we receive your application by email or in the mail. We request one completed annual application for each individual seeking a position along with a recent photo of yourself, RV, and pet(s).

  • Your annual Workcamper application will be evaluated by the Campgrounds Manager and you will be contacted for follow-up and a possible video interview in a timely manner.

BACKGROUND & DMV CHECKS

  • Workcampers are required to live on-site in the campground. In all cases, a thorough background check will be performed as part of the hiring process. In our experience, there is rarely cause for concern, but we will NOT place individuals with questionable histories or criminal records into positions that may put our employees, other volunteers, and visitors at risk.

  • Workcampers hired for camp host and camp store positions will not be required to drive as part of their park assignments. Golf carts will be utilized within the parks to conduct daily tasks. Workcampers hired for maintenance positions will be required to drive District-owned vehicles. If driving is required, Workcamper must possess a valid driver's license and consent to a DMV check as part of the background check. If we cannot obtain access to your state’s driving records, you may be asked to submit a recent DMV report of your driving history covering the past 3-5 years.

RECRUITMENT & PLACEMENT

  • We accept applications year-round. However, it is most typical that the Campgrounds Manager starts recruiting for the following season near the end of the current summer season. You may apply at any time to EVRPD either through email, regular mail, or in person.

  • Placement of appropriate individuals for the best job fit is always a high priority. Please be aware that each of our parks may be looking for certain types of people with a specific skill set depending on planned projects and available positions. The intention is to satisfy park needs first in order to provide the best possible service to our guests, although your preferences and interests are always taken into consideration.

ASSIGNMENT

  • If hired, the location of your camp site is usually determined by many factors in park operations. Park management determines and assigns camp sites based on park needs, size of your RV, and specific duties. Full hookups will be provided along with access to wi-fi and laundry facilities.

INTERVIEWS

  • If it is determined after an evaluation of your application has been completed that you are potentially a good match for an available Workcamper position, you will be contacted by the Campgrounds Manager by phone and/or email. A phone interview and/or video call will be conducted.

  • Do not expect to be offered a position if you can’t be reached by phone or video chat. We can’t get an adequate sense of who you are through
    e-mail only.

  • If possible, do try to arrange for an in-person interview if you’re local to Estes Park or if you’re going to be in the area.

ORIENTATION & TRAINING

  • Workcamper orientation is typically held the week prior to the opening date every year. Your attendance at this special training is required and assures that you will have a thorough overview of the Estes Valley Recreation and Park District, the campground operations, our mission, and how you as a Workamper fit into helping us achieve our goals.

  • Further orientation and on-the-job training takes place at your assigned park locations throughout the camping season as needed.

QUICK TIPS (or how to land a position!)

  • Please apply early for the best consideration and choice of park location for the following year.
  • Be open to Workcamping assignments in either of the EVRPD-managed parks.

  • Do remember that first impressions happen all the time, from the time you request information and talk to someone on the phone to when you are offered a position. Make sure you have a positive, can-do attitude.

  • If you haven’t heard anything about your application within a month or two, check in with the EVRPD Campgrounds Manager to ask about new positions or cancellations. The Manager can be reached at (970)342-5723.

  • Be sure the Campgrounds Manager knows how to reach you with day and night phone numbers, e-mails, and message phones. Be sure you inform the EVRPD office when you have a change of address or phone number.
