CAMP HOSTS

Camp Hosts are responsible for the clean and safe operation of assigned campgrounds, helping ensure campers have a positive and memorable camping experience. We are looking for individuals who possess strong communication skills, a genuine sense of ownership of the campground itself and a passion for all that the Estes Valley area has to offer. Camp Hosts are expected to maintain a presence in the campground 4 days a week. Camp Hosts must enjoy working in an environment of extensive public contact, have the ability to work with minimal supervision, and be able to learn quickly and follow instructions accurately. Additionally, Camp Hosts must be able to perform basic manual labor tasks, and be willing to clean and sanitize facilities with a variety of cleaning agents and chemicals. Good physical condition is a must as the campgrounds are located at elevations around 8,000 feet and physical work such as cleaning fire pits, raking, weeding, managing trash, and performing light maintenance tasks are required.

Precise camp host duties may vary slightly by location, but typically include:
  • Greeting and welcoming guests to our campgrounds

  • Escorting incoming campers to their sites (in a golf cart)

  • Managing and posting campsite reservations

  • Cleaning the campground and campsites including raking, weeding, picking up litter, and cleaning fire pits as needed

  • Cleaning and restocking restroom and shower facilities

  • Providing park literature, local information on history, natural science, and recreational opportunities to guests

  • Educating guests on campground courtesies and policies

  • Assisting with the transport of firewood to guests upon request

  • Filling propane canisters for guests (training and certification is provided)

  • Assisting in the camp store if needed

  • Assisting in maintenance duties for the swimming pool (at the Mary’s Lake Campground)

  • Participating in light duty maintenance projects as needed which include but are not limited to painting, weeding, and watering trees/flowers

  • Reporting guest or maintenance issues to appropriate management staff personnel

  • Identifying safety hazards and using sound judgement to rectify situation or communicating issue to appropriate personnel

  • Reporting emergency situations to designated park management and the EMS as necessary...Basic First Aid/CPR/AED training is highly encouraged and will be provided by EVRPD

CAMP STORE ASSOCIATES

The Estes Park Campground at East Portal has a small "check-in" office with telephone and internet access. The Estes Park Campground at Mary’s Lake has a check-in desk within the large camp store. Both check-in areas utilize the Reserve America Field Manager reservation program to manage camping reservations and POS sales. Camp Store Workampers must be comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced retail environment, talking with guests in person and over the phone, and must demonstrate adequate skills utilizing the computer software.

The duties of office/camp store hosts typically include but are not limited to:
  • Operating computer software programs to manage reservations, camper check-in, and POS transactions
     
  • Answering visitor questions about the park, local history, natural science, recreational opportunities, local restaurants and businesses
     
  • Collecting camping fees and selling retail items in the camp store
  • Preparing various daily reports and reconciling a cash drawer

  • Maintaining and cleaning the office, store, restroom, and laundry area

  • Assisting with inventory reports and restocking camp store inventory

  • Performing various clerical duties such as data input, answering phones, filing, and assisting with special projects in the campground office and/or store

  • Selling firewood, ice, and propane
